This has been driving me crazy!
After a recent
$emerge -u world
portage prompted me to adjust
/etc/groups and /etc/password
aparently i did a crappy job, because the "users" group disapeared (and who knows what else)
anyway, after that (I think it was after that) my alsa devices don't work unless I first loosen up the permissions in /dev, then unload and restart etc/init.d/alsasound
I thought that an update to PAM might have been the cause, so i have since mucked about in my /etc/secutiry/console.perms file, but to no avail.
using both built-in and modular alsa drivers, 2.6.3 and 2.6.5 kernel....
Can anybody shed some light or offer thoughts for further exploratio of the problem? |
