do you have nls and tetex in your use variables?
if so, then it may try to grab tetex stuff for multi languages, but I am not sure.
I had tetex in my use vars, and then emerge --pretend ed and got lots of extra stuff, but since I don't use tetex I just took it out, and I only speak english, so I don't have nls either.

Hi!
If you look at the ebuild, tetex-french is hardcoded in the SRC_URI. It was not added as a optional feature. This was done > 6 months ago about the -r2 revision of the ebuild. Unfortunately, the developer who did this is no longer active and the ebuild has no comments as to why this was done.
Regards,
