Apple Pro Keyboard with non Apple Hardware

So I've spent the past few hours (as well as other days) trying to get my volume down, up, mute, and eject keys working with KDE on my Apple Pro Keyboard. I am not running Apple hardware, I just like the keyboard. I'm about ready to throw in the towel again. I've done my best to follow this guide, but I can't get khotkeys to recognize the mappings of these keys. Any help would be much appreciated.
