Nick's scheduler is back. I've moved away from mm. Bootsplash should be fixed now.

The patches in mm that broke reiser4 are now in mainstream. Reiser4 won't be back until a new snapshot is released.

 I'll guess that now that those patches are in mainstream, there will be working harder on a new snapshot
Apart from that I just rebooted, and everything seems fine

It's only for 2.6.6_rc3. Just wait until kernel.org is reachable.

geez, I just can't get bootsplash working again. I'll leave it in, because it shows up when bootsplash is started in init. I'll keep hacking away at it and see what I can do.

You say you have moved away from mm-sources...
What does this mean? I presume that you are patching the vanilla kernel, rather than the mm version now? Are there not quite a lot of patches in mm? Isn't love-sources going to be lesser for the lack of many of these patches? I'm sure that i did not use 99% of them, but what does this mean for the future?
I'm not sure I understand the benefits of this move... |

It was just a test to see how things ran. I had a working Nick's scheduler (thanks to redeeman) that was diffed against vanllia. I'll have a working Nick's scheduler diffed against mm shortly. I'm planning on moving back to mm with the next release, plus some more vm goodies for you.

So it's only temporary, fair enough then...
But what are the big differences between vanilla and mm? I admit i don't really know how many patches are in mm (it's 3mb, so quite a few). How many of these does the typical love-sources user use? I'm not sure how many of them i benefit from, or would miss if they disappeared. Could some of them be replicated in love instead? How feasible/desirable is it for love to become an alternative rather than a derivative of mm? |

mm is basically the future mainstream. It's a testing bed for patches that could go mainstream. love-users benefitted from the bk-pulls of alsa and usb mainly. We could pick off certain patches from mm, but it's not worth pulling in all of the dependancies for one patch. Basing it off of mm seems to be a better solution IMHO.

is it possible you can run an rsync server somewhere, so gensync (from gentoolkit-dev) can be used with love-sources like it is with breakmygentoo.net?
or even better, have love-sources in bmg's rsync........ |

hope nick's work will speed things up for me. 2.6.5-love5 wasn't exactly what i was expecting. 2.6.4-ck2 seemed to perform better.
compiling the latest love now... will see how it goes.
EDIT: compiled fine. running quite smooth as far as i can jugde already. well... bootsplash isn't working for me either, but that's not that big a problem.
btw, is there a reason anticipatory is set as default? i thought cfq was the scheduler of choice?
