I have installed Apache/1.3.26 Server and then I have installed Squirrelmail.
Both using :

and

However Squirrelmail requires Php support. Apache wasnt installed with php support
How do I add php support with apache?
Thanks |

Be sure to edit /etc/conf.d/apache (APACHE_OPTS="-D PHP4") as well. _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs. |

I suspect you could just It oughta run the ebuild again (hopefully not compiling everything again), and display the extra instructions afterwards. I'd tell you for sure, except I haven't (yet) installed php.
Another thing to try is to see if there's some documentation in /usr/share/doc/php-blahblahblah. There might be an "INSTALL" you could look over, I suspect that would at least point you in the right direction.
Hope this helps! Maybe when I emerge php I can be more specific.... |

php != mod_php.
Yamakasi, run Code: | # ebuild /var/db/pkg/dev-php/PF/PF.ebuild config | ...replacing PF with the name of the actual version of mod_php you have installed. Your shell's tab completion should hopefully make this easy. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

mod_php is an Apache module. php is the standalone PHP interpreter. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

I got to thinking about it, and the only time I have ever used PHP is through apache, i.e. through mod_php, and I can't think of any other way to use it. Is PHP by itself useful? Can you install mod_php without php? Just curious. |

You can write php shell scripts.
For that you need php installed.
For apache you only need the mod_php really. |

Wow! You can write php shell scripts?! I'm so gonna start doing that! PHP OWNZ! I just found out today I could make pdf files dynamically on the fly....wow. (If you want to see PHP and PostgreSQL in action, check out my site, http://ric.uark.edu/. That's why I love PHP so much: I can do so much with it so easily!) |
