I built Duke3d from the recent CVS source from icculus, and emerged all of its dependencies. I have the MIDI music, but the sound is all loud static. Any thoughts?
Using Alsa 1.04 (emerged, not from kernel), kernel 2.6.4-gentoo, on a sound blaster audigy. |

I had the same problem. It seems the problem was I was using a duke3d.cfg file from my old windows installation.
When I copied the file from /etc/games into my ~/.duke3d dir the sound was pretty much as per the original

Didn't work, midi sounds great, but sound is pretty bad. Could you post your config file's sound section here? |

Code: | [Sound Setup]
FXDevice = 0
MusicDevice = 0
FXVolume = 220
MusicVolume = 200
NumVoices = 8
NumChannels = 2
NumBits = 16
MixRate = 44100
MidiPort = 0x330
BlasterAddress = 0x220
BlasterType = 1
BlasterInterrupt = 5
BlasterDma8 = 1
BlasterDma16 = 5
BlasterEmu = 0x620
ReverseStereo = 0
SoundToggle = 1
VoiceToggle = 1
AmbienceToggle = 1
MusicToggle = 1

FWIW: I'm using kernel alsa modules, 2.6.5-love4, and an old equisoniq 1370 card. _________________ Don't let THEM immanentize the Eschaton! |

Thanks, will try that when I can. I've tried the kernel (OSS) emu10k1 driver and am currently using the latest alsa 1.04 on an audigy. |
