Try Code: | emerge -s [nameofplugin] |
If you get zero results, try for a shortened version of nameofplugin till you get something. Then just emerge. I've done this for both flash and the mplayer plugin.
If there are no ebuilds for the plugin, google is your friend, and you'll have to download and install manually. Or create an ebuild for everyone else .
It might help to note the exact name of the plugin that mozilla wants and then post it here. _________________ But the situation seemed to call for witty repartee. "Huh?" I said. |

first emerge mplayer
second emerge mplayerplug-in
third cp /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/mplayerplug-in.so /home/user/.netscape/plugins
fourth cp /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/mplayerplug-in.so /home/user/.netscape6/plugins
mplayer should now work and act as a plugin to play videos from mozilla, and firefox. The only format I have had a problem with is windows media.
hope this helps |

so my favorite player is mplayer, but i was encoding stuff for my friends the other day, and all my friends are mac-heads who use VLC, so I emerged VLC to test, and it installs a plugin for mozilla (didn't even have to link it, since mozilla was installed already).
I've had better luck with this random plugin than the "mplayer plug-in", but oddly, i've had better luck with mplayer as a stand-alone mplayer.
my 2 cents. _________________ jñanam bandha |

On /etc its the mplayerplug-in configuration file(cannot remember the name), you have to uncomment the realmedia and quicktime lines to get thee plugin to reconize them....
PD; remember that mplayerplug-in only works with a specific version of mplayer (0.92+) |

Be sure that you have media-libs/win32codecs installed as well ... after that re-emerge mplayer and it should work.

so mplayerplug-in doesnt work with the 1.0 pres? because mine locks up when it gets to "playing media" for a quicktime movie. |
