|
|
Hi there! I'm from Germany, so my English is not so good. When I came to Linux, everywhere
the word "foo" appeared... Well, what is that? There is no entry in my dictionary
I don't know. Perhaps this is a stupid Question, so please don't hurt you, when falling
off the chair.
This is the problem that made me finally ask for "foo's" meaning:
(I've started to emerge MPlayer, when my system crashed. Now I want
to complete the installation)
Code: |
# emerge mplayer
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge media-video/mplayer-0.90_pre8 to /
>>> md5 ;-) MPlayer-0.90pre8.tar.bz2
>>> md5 ;-) mp-arial-iso-8859-1.zip
>>> md5 ;-) mp-arial-iso-8859-2.zip
>>> No message digest entry found for archive"default-skin-0.1.tar.bz2."
!!! Type "ebuild foo.ebuild digest" to generate a new digest.
# ebuild foo.ebuild digest (just trying it)
!!! doebuild: foo.ebuild not found.

foo is just a generic term in computers... it basically means anything or watever, the term comes from foobar or fubar, which is actually a world war 2 acronym for f*cked up beyond all repair =) |
