What's that smell like, exactly?

Kinda like shellfish, but without the strong odors if left alone for too long.

Oh, and to the original poster, congratulations, hope you'll like it. ;)

CURSE YOU GENTOO!

I need to go make a Gentoo Anonymous forum.

"Hi! My name is Lord Bob"
everyone: "Hi, Bob!"
"I've been adicted to Gentoo and those crazy forums for over a year now. Speaking of forums: I'll be right back..."

And your sig, freakiR, is more true for me then you will ever know :).

And to Kiroku6, GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN! :)

Welcome to the community yo!

Well, someting went wrong after the install, and i decided to just reinstall. I am now installing 2004.0 hopefully i will be able to get everything running. This may be a slow process (especcially for me who is new to linux completely) but from what ive found, in the long run very worth it. I am already considering putting it on my iMac.

Thanks for the warm welcomes!

Using the forums to search for "something went wrong" may have solved the issue without a new install

Did you search for the particular "what went wrong" thing???? You usually have someone with the right answer.

Heh, that "something went wrong" may have been an "rm -rf /". That'll make ya re-install.

While I'm not new to linux I'd like to extend a warm welcome to tgourley and a big thank you to the Gentoo community here. So many specialized forums such as our own frown on posting "frivolous threads" or posting a question previously answered that many of the replies often are nasty without answering the original question. Here when a person steps in to say hello everyone says hello instead of tearing him/her apart. Not only that but even for unsearched questions generally the forum will answer their question with a polite reminder to search. Such a friendly atmosphere is such a relief from the rest of the internet. :)

Well, this may be an old post, but my mission to install Gentoo on my 1600 failed, after it was installed i couldnt get any window managers or even X server to work. I know have built a new computer which will have Gentoo on it.
