Hi Folks,
I've gone through the installation process for using a stage 3 tarball (I downloaded the Athlon XP version as I'm obviously running an XP processor)
I'm installing Gentoo into VMWare so I can try it out before I install it properly.
The drives are arranged like so;
Quote: | SDA1: boot
SDA5: Swap space
SDA6: Gentoo (and root?) |
I've managed to get grub installed without any problems except that when it boots I get the following error message
Quote: |
Cannot open root device "sda6" or 08:06
Please append a correct root= option
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 08:06 |
My Grub.lst file looks like this;
Quote: |
root (hd0,0)
kernel /boot/bzImage root=/dev/sda6
|
Have I made a silly error? Can anyone shed any light on this?
Cheers,

Are you certain that all of the SCSI drivers needed to mount sda6 are in your kernel? SCSI host adaptor driver, SCSI support, SCSI disk support? _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

Rac..
It seems like I did make a silly error.. I'll try adding all the scsi support and see if that gets it loading..
