Hey ppl, just wanna know wat is the difference between packaged and live cd, is the packaged cd not live and has preselected pacakages in it?
I am sure this question must have been already answered on the forum, but i couldn't find nything in the search.
Can someone plz elaborate on the two.. oh and one more thing, if i was too use the packaged cd, which one should i use? x86 or pentium4?
Thx, Muq _________________ The Only Thing Necessary for The Triumph of evil is for Good Men To do Nothing!... |

The packages cd doesn't boot and only contains GRP packages. As for selecting which packages cd to download, it depends on your needs. The x86 cd is probably i386 compatible (not sure but it should be), while the P4 is optimized for the uhm... P4. |

Forgive me for being so out-of-it , but is the LiveCD a bootable OS without installing to the hd ?
Or is it just a different packaging system that must be installed to the HD ?
(I'm just wanting to test it out with my AMD64) |

The "minimal" or "universal" LiveCDs are a bootable Gentoo on CD, but not much software is included (no GUI). These CDs provide enough of a working Linux environment to do a real installation onto the harddrive, they are not supposed to be "demo" CDs like KNOPPIX and others. |
