When I get to the configuring the Kernel section in the installation manual (I used stage 3) I type:
emerge gentoo-sources
I get this error:
!!! ARCH is not set... Are you missing the /etc/make.profile symlink?
!!! Is the symlink correct? Is your portage tree complete?
I am installing from a universal live CD without network support.

I tried going through the installation twice now and have gotten the error both times. What does it mean when it asks if my portage tree is complete? |

I also am not able to use nano to see the output. I am basically trying to leave everything as default since this is my first gentoo install. Did i need to make changes to the make.conf?
I have installed twice with the same problem occuring both times. |
