ROX-Desktop is does not include a window manager. You need to get a WM that's listed on the ROX site and get ROX-Session, if you don't already have it. The first time you run rox session with (case sensitive!) It will ask you about a bunch of settingsm and change your .xinitrc . You can copy the .xinitrc to /etc/X11/Sessions and name it rox. |

Care to be a bit more specific? |

Damn it, they changed their site! Well, there are a lot of WMs you can use. I recommend Openbox3 although I use fluxbox, Openbox requires less configuration and goofing around with settings. |

i have been searching the web and am a little confused.
what window managers are supported with rox?
what are the differnces?
how do i select the window manager to use?
is there a config file? or rox arguments?
i tried to put it in .xinitrc but that only starts and it quits.
can the file browser be used under gnome, xfce4, or other windows managers and desktops ?

You can either start ROX after starting your WM of choice with newbie_100's advice, or start ROX with ROX-Session. Merge it, run it (let it set up your ~/.xinitrc and copy it to wherever the session file should reside). The first time you start it, it will ask about your WM. |

There are tons of WMs and many debates about the best one. I suppose the simplest to use with ROX is Pekwm, but and WM that conforms to the standards (EWMH? ICCM? whichever...) can be used with ROX. |
