I'm trying to emerge the newest unstable nvidia drivers (5336) because of supposedly better performance. When I:
Code:
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge nvidia-glx nvidia-kernel

and get the 5336 version of each, then try to run something open-gl (ut2004 or glxgears for example) I get:
Code:
Error: API mismatch: the NVIDIA kernel module is version 1.0.4480, but
this library is version 1.0.5336. Please be sure that your kernel
module and all NVIDIA driver files have the same driver version.
Error: glXCreateContext failed

I tried what was mentioned in [url="https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=160468&highlight=nvidia+kernel+conflict"]this[/url] thread and unmerged, then deleted the modules, then re-emerged, but no effect. My /usr/src/linux is properly symlinked to my 2.6.3 kernel (and that *was* where I deleted the modules from... /lib/modules/2.6.3-gentoo-r1/).

I think I have the opposite problem of whats mentioned in that thread though. Anyone have any ideas?

Just wondering... did you try rebooting or at least closing X and removing the module from your kernel?

D'oh! Just had to restart. I restarted X before, but obviously, the module would remain loaded. I'm sure a restart wasn't needed, so for future reference, how would I have unloaded the old module and loaded the new one?
