1. Do I need to be connected to the internet to bootstrap from stage one if I'm using a universal cd for x86 2004.1 that has a stage1?
2. What would be the steps to configuring a netgear wireless modem? The site has a driver for it, is there any way I can just load that? If not, what would be the steps to configuring my modem?
2a. Is there a way I can make a shell script of this wireless configuration so that each time I start up the gentoo universal disc I don't have to reconfigure and enter all the commands? |

Just for the sake of knowing: why do I need to be connected to the internet to bootstrap? |

The bootstrap.sh step and the emerge system step will both need to download source files that are not included on the CD.
Only a stage3 installation can be done without downloading anything. |
