Hi,
I can't emerge mplayer. This is not caused by missing skins or fonts (I think...)
This happens just before emerge fails:
Code: | libmpdemux/libmpdemux.a(audio_in.o): In function `audio_in_setup':
audio_in.o(.text+0x2d5): undefined reference to `ai_oss_init'
libmpdemux/libmpdemux.a(audio_in.o): In function `audio_in_set_samplerate':
audio_in.o(.text+0x345): undefined reference to `ai_oss_set_samplerate'
libmpdemux/libmpdemux.a(audio_in.o): In function `audio_in_set_channels':
audio_in.o(.text+0x3a6): undefined reference to `ai_oss_set_channels'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [mplayer] Error 1
!!! ERROR: The ebuild did not complete successfully.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 157, Exitcode 2
!!! (no error message)

I've not had such problems before, mplayer usually emerges and compiles just fine. I have not changed any modules or drivers wrt sound.

libmp files (/usr/lib/libmp*) on my system belong to dev-libs/gmp, media-sound/lame, media-libs/mpeg-lib. Are any of those missing? _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

Hi,
I tried re-emerging those three packages - it didn't make any difference. |

I have never gotten mplayer to build via emerge. I would suggest trying the files off of mplayerhq.hu |

Well, I've emerged it several times without problems. Possibly not with the r9 kernel, but I can't see how that could matter.
I could of course try to compile the original tarball myself. But I'd have to study all kinds of compiler options, and that's what portage is for. I think I'll try to emerge an older version, if I can figure out how.

If by r9 kernel you are referring to Gentoo sources, they have been the cause for numerous 'weird' problems. Well, if you count switching to a vanilla kernel solving the problem as meaning Gentoo sources cause them. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

Yes, I mean Gentoo sources.
I had many problems with r7, but they all went away with r9. I've been running mplayer fine under r9 until now. It ran fine, but would't emerge. I then unmerged it to see if that would help, leaving me with no mplayer at all. |

I managed to emerge version pre6-r3. Nothing else works. The strange thing is that "emerge -u world" doesn't try to emerge a newer version on top of that. Nice, but strange. |
