I will be purchasing a server configuration for a project and want to use gentoo. What is the best hardware configuration for this. I don't want to build this system. I want to purchase it already made probably from Dell. Are scsi RAID configured drives better than SATA RAID? Any issues with dual processors? Are there certain motherboards that aren't supported? I don't want to nuts around too much with this installation. I've looked over the website and haven't found anything.

Thanks. jkjanis

DELL PERC RAID controllers are supported in the stock kernel, so I'd go with that - the drives are expensive, but probably worth it for a server.
But be sure to search the forum for any issues with this !
As for the processors - you don't have many options (P4 mainly, if we're talking about DELL), but try to get dual Xeon's if you can afford to - they will blow the hyper-threading-hype clear away...
Their mainboards are usually Intel ServerSets - can't go far wrong with those...

What - DELL still have no Gentoo info ? shame....
