Hi all !
I am trying to install gentoo 1.1a on a Sun Enterprise 450. After booting the CD, mouting it and chrooting to it, I tried to partition the hard disk. It's a IBM DDYS T18350 (18 GB).
fdisk told me that there is no disklabel on the harddrive, so fdisk wanted to create one. I tried "autoconfigure", "custom" and "SUN 2.1G" with very little success. "autoconfigure" didn't work, "custom" produced errors when I tried to create a file system and "SUN 2.1G" only gave me 2 GB of my 18 GB drive.
How can I use the whole disk space ? Or maybe the question is: What are the correct values for the "custom" option with fdisk?
Thanks in advance,
Timo |

Well, I've never used anything bigger than 2.1 gigs myself on a sparc (because I've never dove into the sparc arena with alot of cash...) but just from the sounds of it, the bios isn't detecting the parameters correctly. You should find out the drive parameters from IBM, or at least thats what I would do. Then, when you do the configuration, you can plug the numbers in and perhaps fdisk would do it's think right? |

I haven't been on this for a long time, but I am going to try it out again. |
