Hi,
I have a problem when I use emerge to merge or unmerge - which then calls depscan.sh
The following is displayed numerous times:
Code: | Usage: server -n rsa_nickname -p port [-3RFrf] [-w password]
[-c ciphers] [-d dbdir]
-3 means disable SSL v3
-r means request certificate on first handshake.
-f means require certificate on first handshake.
-R means request certificate on all handshakes.
-F means require certificate on all handshakes.
-c ciphers Letter(s) chosen from the following list
A SSL2 RC4 128 WITH MD5
B SSL2 RC4 128 EXPORT40 WITH MD5
C SSL2 RC2 128 CBC WITH MD5
D SSL2 RC2 128 CBC EXPORT40 WITH MD5
E SSL2 DES 64 CBC WITH MD5
F SSL2 DES 192 EDE3 CBC WITH MD5
a SSL3 FORTEZZA DMS WITH FORTEZZA CBC SHA
b SSL3 FORTEZZA DMS WITH RC4 128 SHA
c SSL3 RSA WITH RC4 128 MD5
d SSL3 RSA WITH 3DES EDE CBC SHA
e SSL3 RSA WITH DES CBC SHA
f SSL3 RSA EXPORT WITH RC4 40 MD5
g SSL3 RSA EXPORT WITH RC2 CBC 40 MD5
h SSL3 FORTEZZA DMS WITH NULL SHA
i SSL3 RSA WITH NULL MD5
j SSL3 RSA FIPS WITH 3DES EDE CBC SHA
k SSL3 RSA FIPS WITH DES CBC SHA
l SSL3 RSA EXPORT WITH DES CBC SHA (new)
m SSL3 RSA EXPORT WITH RC4 56 SHA (new)

I've tracked down that server is part of mozilla:
Code: | vaio root # which server
/usr/bin/server
vaio root # qpkg -f /usr/bin/server
net-www/mozilla *
|
... but I do not know where to go from here. Also why are my emerge scripts calling mozilla server program?
Cheers,

I have messed about with putting some echo lines into the script....
and found the area that is causing the problem. You can see this in your own /sbin/depscan.h to check.
Code: | bash "${svcdir}/depcache" | \
\
/bin/gawk \
-f /lib/rcscripts/awk/functions.awk \
-f /lib/rcscripts/awk/gendepends.awk || \
retval=1
#eend ${retval} "Failed to cache service dependencies"
exit ${retval}
|
but I really do not understand what is going on. Any help appreciated.
Cheers,

Hello,
after a system-crash I've got similar problems with depscan.sh
Code: |
deep-thought init.d # ls -la /var/lib/init.d/depcache
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 0 Sep 23 20:22 /var/lib/init.d/depcache
deep-thought init.d # depscan.sh
* Caching service dependencies...
* No scripts to process!
/var/lib/init.d/depcache: /var/lib/init.d/depcache: No such file or
directory
deep-thought init.d # ls -la /var/lib/init.d/depcache
ls: /var/lib/init.d/depcache: No such file or directory
|
The reason for the missing file depcache is in depscan.sh - line 30:
Code: |
# Clean out the non volitile directories ...
rm -rf ${svcdir}/dep{cache,tree} ${svcdir}/{broken,snapshot}/*
|
This lines (in depscan.sh) should create a new file depcache, I think:
Code: |
/bin/gawk \
-f /lib/rcscripts/awk/functions.awk \
-f /lib/rcscripts/awk/cachedepends.awk || \
|
If I have a closer look at cachedepends.awk I could see that
depcache should be created somewhere above from line 209
Code: |
cachedepends.awk:209: system("mv "TMPCACHE" "SVCDIR"/depcache")
|
My problem now is: I do not know anything about awk (or gawk)
so I could not determine exactly what 'the problem is.
A workaround is to do not care about errors and start the required
init-scripts manually. -- But it is only a work-around ...
I have something heared about the package baselayout, but a
"emerge baselayout" does not solve [the|my] problem.
Are there any ideas left?
Greetings,
markus |

I just carried on regardless and after a while updates to what I guess were mozilla and portage got rid of the annoyance.
Cheers,

I had a similar problem, and the cause was a misconfiguration in /etc/rc.conf, while some people say it can be /etc/conf.d/. Information and entertainment in this thread. |
