hi,
i emerged xfce4 last night but it didn't put an entry into /etc/X11/Sessions/ as it did on my other machines.
"startxfce4" works right though.
any suggestion how to fix this ? |

The file in /etc/X11/Sessions would literally contain nothing more that "startxfce4". For me, I believe the file is /etc/X11/Sessions/XFCE-4 or something, but that name of the file doesn't really matter. Make sure you make that file with the same ownership/permissions as other files in that directory.
I am wondering why that file wasn't created though. Odd. _________________ Wikipedia - The Free Encyclopædia |

when i emerged xfce4 it did not create one for me either. so i manually created one as follows:
Code: |
#!/bin/sh
/usr/bin/startxfce4
|
since i was using gdm as display manager i also created an ~/.xsession file that had the above contents....
as a side note, i never could get entrance to work with xfce4. so i switched over to gdm. if you have better luck with entrance do let us know how so....
if you have problems, make sure to check out your .xsession-errors file. _________________ "Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? not for me. since i could never get it to work with xfce. there is an issue with entrance opening up display 0 and xfce being unable to connect to display 0. i posted this matter and another user reported the same problem:

i was using kdm before and then tried entrance. now i am with gdm. gdm is nice since it has themes and you can get many themes from:

the gdm themes are at:
