|
|
Hi,
I recently emerged samba 3.0.2a-r2.
It seems to start ok but I get the following from smbclient:
smbclient -L 192.168.1.8
Password:
session setup failed: Call timed out: server did not respond after 20000 milliseconds
Any bright ideas ? |

Hmm... Tried opening another console and running Code: | tcpdump -n host 192.168.1.8 and port 138 or port 445 | to see what happens? _________________ Military Commissions Act of 2006: http://tinyurl.com/jrcto

moocha,
thx for the suggestion. The answer is - nothing appears.
Maybe I should have pointed out that 192.168.1.2 is the localhost.
Tried 127.0.0.1 - same result - nothing.
At least this (probably) means the error message is accurate !
Any other pointers would be welcome |

This still does not work for me.
I have tried smbclient -L 127.0.0.1 and smbclinet -L 192.168.1.8(local address) |

Well - is the SMB server (smbd) actually running? Maybe it dies, and non-open ports are firewalled... Look into the logs - /var/log/samba... _________________ Military Commissions Act of 2006: http://tinyurl.com/jrcto
