Hi,

I have an amd64 bit processor and I can't get java to work :( . Whenever I try to run an applet my mozilla just closes. I am using kerne 2.6.5-gentoo-r1.

Does java work at all? Can you run normal java applications?

Yes I can run applications on the command line just not in a browser

what jdk are you using?
try sun-jdk or sun-j2sdk

Then it might be a problem with your mozilla installion or it's java plugin

Inside mozilla, enter in the URL bar

about:plugins

Check and see if Mozilla has the Java plugin installed.

If it doesn't, I think all you have to do is to copy the
libjavaplugin_oji.so file to your Mozilla Plugin folder.

Could a monderator please move this thread to the amd 64 specfic section. I have done about:plugins and the blackdown java is listed but if I try to pull up anything java it crashes I don't know if it says some kind of log somewhere that I could look at.
