Some of avi files stutter under mplayer. In bsplayer you just needed to download latest xvid pack. I've tryed same method but it didn't helped. Any advice?

And what video codec does mplayer use for playing the file? It's in the mplayer output under "Selected video codec".

When you start mplayer on the command line, it produces a lot of console output. This line is towards the end of that output.

In your case mplayer uses the ffmpeg library to decode the avi file. You can specify which codec to use for decoding with "-vc" or "-vfm". Try "mplayer -vc help" for a list of available codecs. See "man mplayer" for details. You can also specify options for Xvid with "-xvidopts".

I guess that "mplayer -vc xvid" will produce a better result for your avi file(s). (I haven't tried that option myself yet, look into the output of mplayer whether libxvidcore is indeed used.)

Try 1.0.0_rc4 (unstable). Runs without problems here.

I am not a native English speaker (as you can tell), so I'm confused at what your last posting means

Put this line into your /etc/mplayer.conf (system-wide) or ~/.mplayer/config:

Code:
vc xdiv

You may want to check "man mplayer" on how to use the vc and vfm options. Maybe you'll happen to play a file that's not xvid encoded. It might not play with the above option in your config (there's a way to indicate priorities, check it out).

I haven't seen this yet. Examine mplayer's output carefully for hints on what's happening.

Fullscrean blue should mean that your video output is not good.

MPlayer can play video with different output methods. E.g. using XVideo extension, SDL laer, etc.

I think you use XVideo out. Try to use it with "-vo sdl" switch.

Issue "mplayer -vo help" to see what kind of otputs your MPlayer knows. You should try different ones, because on my system xvoutput is the fastest, but it differs from system to system.
