Hi
As a KDE user, I have always used arts. It allows me to use XMMS and at the same time, to have the KMail notification.
I'm thinking ot replacing KMail by Thunderbird, which does not use arts...
I changed the setting of XMMS (first alsa then oss). I then tried to play the notification in Thunderbird but it does not work !
What can I do to have XMMS and thunderbird's notification at the **same** time?
I just had this message for XMMS:
Code: | ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:1056snd_pcm_hw_open) open /dev/snd/pcmC0D0p failed: Périphérique ou ressource occupé
** WARNING **: alsa_setup(): Failed to open pcm device (default): Périphérique ou ressource occupé | What is it exactly ?
I never had any problems using arts
I was also very surprised to see that the owner of many devices in /dev are my user AND NOT root
How come ?
Thanks |

Run the following command:
artsdsp thunderbird (or whatever the command is )
Artsdsp is a wrapper that will take anything that does not have native arts support and force it to run through the arts sound daemon. Hope this helps
