OK so I have a great gentoo box running, and I'm opening a linux club at my university... I want to give a workshop on installing gentoo, stage 1 .
the problem is that the internet conexion is really slow, so I was wondering if there is a way of maybe setting up a server with the necesary sources, like portage, kernel etc.. and set up the installing machines so as to have the emerge script look for the packages in the server and not on the internet....
anyone know how to do this?
thanks _________________ thesis. |

One way to do it would be to export your /usr/portage/distfiles directory as an NFS share and mount it.
You'll need to populate the directory with the files using emerge -f first.
