|
|
Hi everybody,
I am using the dmasound_pmac module as a driver for the built-in audio chip of my iBook2. Although sound is working after "modprobing" the module, the mixer device acts crazy: the sliders do not work the way they are supposed to. For example, changing the pcm volume seems to have also impact on bassed and balance. When I set the mixer-values in MacOS before booting Linux the sound works perferct. However, touching one slider using aumix or xmms makes the sound qualtity ugly.
I've read that the mixer of the dmasound_pma driver used to make troubles? Is this still the case (I am using Gentoo 1.4RC1 with Kernel 2.4.19-r6)?
What about alsa? (I did not succeed in compiling the alsa plugin for xmms. Thats why I've chosen the other method)
Yours,
Helfried |

I had weird behavior with aumix too, it would either be really loud or really soft.
the keys was to use pbbuttonsd and gtkpbbuttons.
once you get that set up you can turn the volume up and down in nice small steps or mute.
check out http://www.desertsol.com/~kevin/ppc I have my pbbuttonsd.conf file posted and I describe how to set it up. |
