Hey there folks,
I've successfully installed the base system with the d'loaded LiveCD' s and all went well.
I installed everything from the CD - USB ADSL connection that can't be configured pre-install. Upon restart it want's to download everything!
I tell it the usual
Code: | export PKGDIR="/mnt/cdrom/"
USE="bindist" emerge --usepkg kde |
It then goes on to calculate dependencies and promptly attempt download. Nothing I do seems to work, everything should be on the package CD I downloaded - right?
The only other thing I can think of doing would be the nightmare of trying to install and configure my Sagem F@st 800 modem and continue from there.
Any thoughts?
Thanks...

ive never been able to get the usepkdir thing to work... ever.....
What i always end up doing is copying all the pakages off the cd into /usr/portage/packages and leaveing the usepkgdir default and then it finds it...
You could give that a try if you want |

Hei
In section 11 of HB, after Code listing 7, 'Mount the Packages CD', there is code listing 8..
Code:
# ls /mnt/cdrom
Did you follow that step and see the packages?
If so you should have no trouble with:
# export PKGDIR="/mnt/cdrom" working..
