Well if that's all you want to share with us, it's not a great loss...

Oy, I looked back in your previous posts. You've had problems compiling stuff. But you've also been using Reiser4. You DO know that ReiserFS4 is heavily experimental and there are still some major bugs in it, right? Try installing Gentoo with the standard Reiser3 or Ext3. You should have no problems with those.

Didn't you think that, instead of a Gentoo problem, that was a problem of your "incapacity"?

What are you expecting...us to beg you to give Gentoo another try? Honestly what are these goodbye messages for? Dont get me wrong I love the idea of getting more and more Gentoo users, but really if someone does not want to stay I am not going to force them.

Guys, you're not helping. If you have nothing constructive to add (however right you may be), just ignore him please.

You're right, but it's quite impossible to post a message like that and not get a flame.

Been there, done that and went back to GenToo. It's so called "community" distro, right?

Way overbloated and still causing problems. With Linux, whatever distro you choose you'd still have to get your hands dirty rummaging under the hood in the system guts and that's what GenToo is especially good for.

Translation:

I am too dumb to follow the advice not to use bleeding-edge unstable filesystems, and need someone else to blame for my inability to realise that all of my woes are of my own making.

(apologies to nixnut)

well gentoo should have a fool-proof instalation like mdk or other distros...

noone was born knowing how to install linux....

for example, installing boot loader in gentoo is a pain, doing it with mdk instalation is so easy.

just my 2 cents

i think an 8 year old could follow the Gentoo Handbook instructions and have a working system. It's not exactly rocket science. and why should gentoo be anything? it is what it is and if you don't like it use another distro. that's the best thing about linux, you have the choice.

in regards to installation - following directions is easy, the hard part is making correct choices and knowing how to adapt if your configuration is not the same as the guide's... If you have no prior experience with installing Linux Gentoo install is not easy, no questions about it.

can maybe somebody lock this thread?
