someone point me to the right thread

i know this question has probably already been answered somewhere here either on the forum or one of the docs on the gentoo website, but i cant seem to find it

I'm a noob and i just did a stage1 install and i already got gnome up and running and everything.

My problem is , i dont know how to emerge a masked package. whenever i do# emerge desklet-psisensors,, it gives me some message about masked packages.

Please point me to the right thread or explain what i have to do.

That's old school.
Read man portage - you have to put the package in /etc/portage/package.unmask or /etc/portage/package.keywords
