What alterniatives to applications that come with KDE/Gnome do people here recommend for someone using a bare/semi-bare WM like fluxbox? I'm looking for a file manager and system monitor, but might as well include anything anyone can think of for alterniatives to KDE/Gnome software people might be able to use.

Nice thread, i guess it will render interesting posts.

    file manager: rox, endeavour, mc
    (look at the fluxmod.dk rox-filler deuglyfication how-to)
    term: aterm, xterm, Eterm
    browser: dillo, links2, firefox
    im: centericq, amsn
    mail: mutt, sylpheed claws
    irc: irssi, xchat
    ftp: yafc, gftp
    downloaders: wget, gwget, prozgui
    lan: linneighborhood
    ssh: secpanel
    editor: nano, vim, scite, nedit
graphics: gqview, gtkam, gimp-2.0, gcolor, inkscape
audio: orpheus, cplay, mp3blaster, xmms, streamtunner, alsamixer, aumix
    video: xine, mplayer, realone
    cd-burn: bashburn, gcombust
    office: abiworld, gnumeric, acroread, xpdf
    password: gpassman, tkpassman
    monitor: gkrellm, dockpapps, root-tail, gtkdiskfree
    misc: idesk, fbpager, stardict, btdownloadcurses

You can configure your fluxbox menu to launch transparent atem or borderless Eterm with your favourite cmd line app.
Nothing suits best fluxbox than a bunch of terms running your apps.

What about a process listing program similar to Gnome System Montior? Anyone have any ideas for what I could replace that with?
