I have an ATI Radeon 9200, and I get this error when I run /opt/americas-army/armyops:
Code: | tux root # /opt/americas-army/armyops
Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0".
open /dev/[sound/]dsp: Device or resource busy
Couldn't set video mode: Couldn't find matching GLX visual
History:
Exiting due to error

Also, just running "armyops" gives me a command not found. |

I dont have an ATi card, but i think you need to enable DRI support in the kernel and load it up in the Xfree config.
and offcourse use the ati drivers. _________________ linux: #232767 |

I kinda ran into similar problem. I reinstalled my video drivers as well as remerge AA and It just started working. Give it a try you'll never know! |

Make sure you're in the games group. You don't want to run the game directly unless you are in the actual game directory.
From the error you posted, the problem is with your opengl configuration on your card, not the game. _________________ Ex-Gentoo Developer

Regarding the sound error - if you're running KDE with arts, you might try running:
artsdsp armyops
armyops should be in your path if you're in the games group, as noted above.
Regarding the "Couldn't set video mode: Couldn't find matching GLX visual" bit - the first question would be: Do any other 3d games work? If you're not sure, try running "glxgears". Also, "glxinfo | head -6" gives some useful info, ie., here's mine:
$ glxinfo | head -6
name of display: :0.0
display: :0 screen: 0
direct rendering: Yes
server glx vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation
server glx version string: 1.3
server glx extensions:
Note the "Direct Rendering: Yes - if yous says "No" - make sure you have your kernel module loaded.
Cheers!
