digital camera AND cdrw permissions

hi there,

i'm having problems connecting my digital camera to my computer. used to be able to do this without a problem with gentoo 1.4. i've upgraded recently to kernel 2.6, gnome 2.6, etc... my kernel includes usb-storage -- but it just seems like my camera is not recognized anymore (i've emerged usbutils, incidentally). Any solutions?

Also, i'd like to know how to set up my permissions so that k3b/cdrecord/cdrdao etc... may work under my regular user rather than root. My user is set up as part of users,wheel,audio,cdrw,nobody,ftp, and games.
