Ok, I have my cable modem connected to a router which shares the internet in our house amongst 3 rooms. In my room, I have a hub to netwrk my two computers. When I have my linux machine connected into this hub, it refuses to aknowledge the interenet, however, when I plug it directly into the router, the internet works fine...
My WinXP machine has no problem finding the internet, what might be causing the problem with linux?
Linux does have an IP with the router, it shows up in the dhcp tables...
Thanks! |

Are you trying to access a web page?
If you are, you will need dns name resolution in your /etc/resolv.conf file
Try to ping the internet direct and see if you get a reply:
ping 66.102.11.99

Possibly a failure in network speed negotiation?
Can you hit other hosts on your network?
If not, you might take a look at mii-tool. |

Have you set the cable modem as your default gateway? Look in /etc/conf.d/net (IIRC). Windows might be autodetecting this. _________________ moo |
