ACPI Questions?

I am using a HP Laptop with a AMD processor and the 2.6.5 kernel. I hace acpi all built in as modules in the kernel and I have the acpid installed. When I load up my computer it says loading acpi done and the acpid loads all the processor fan etc. Is there something that I am doing wrong because My computer is constantly running hot with the fan running all the time.
