I've been using the extigy OSS driver with kernel 2.6 (exaudio.sf.net) and recently decided to try getting LIRC to work. The driver claims if I mknod a device with major number given by /proc/devices I can read the button code as an integer from this device. The site says the device should be called "IR" however i have two devices called exaudio_remote, and exaudio_remote_lirc. I tried mknoding both of those devices however I have no idea what minor number to use. When I make a device with major 61 (exaudio_remote_lirc) and minor 1, I can get lirc to start. However when I push a button on the remote lirc "removes client". I'm not sure whats going on and I'm not sure how to proceed, anyone have any insight into this? By the way, I'm using 2.6.3 with udev. I could possibly write udev rules for it however I'm not sure how to go about this.

/proc/devices:
Code:

Character devices:
  1 mem
  4 /dev/vc/0
  4 tty
  5 /dev/tty
  5 /dev/console
  5 /dev/ptmx
  7 vcs
 10 misc
 13 input
 14 sound
 29 fb
 61 exaudio_remote_lirc
 67 coda_psdev
128 ptm
136 pts
180 usb
226 drm
253 pcmcia
254 exaudio_remote

Block devices:
  1 ramdisk
  2 fd
  3 ide0
 22 ide1
 43 nbd
[/code]

Apparently its actually a lirc <-> mplayer problem since irw seems to read the signals fine...
