I wonder if it's possible to use emerge in a cross-compilation setup. say, I'd have a cross-compiler built with crossdev:
Code: | crossdev --arch=target |
then I could start to build a system using the corssdev toolchain and emerge, something like:
Code: | ROOT=/opt/crossroot emerge foo-bar |
where /opt/crossroot would contain the target filesystem, at first with the crosstool-chain and some files needed by emerge (e.g. etc/make.conf, etc.)
has anyone tried this? build a whole system using cross-compilation? |

Use distcc with 2 machines linked by networking and a lot of the problems go away. Yes you can do target arch flag when using distcc.

and

Must get gentoo m68k working _________________ I'm so small, I can fit under the door.
