Hi people,
Im trying to install Gentoo on a IBM Netfinity 5000 server.
I have big trouble probing hardware at install-time! I can`t probe the scsi interface nor the network interface.
Anyone has ever succeed in installing Gentoo on a Netfinity server?
Thanks for your help in advance,
Best regards,

Thanks that helped! I was using the gentoo kernel image... i tried smp and at least I got the net working.
But I still doesn`t know what to do to enable scsi. It detected aic7xxxx but I don`t have access to the 4 disks. I only have /dev/hda ...
I found good documentation within the links you pasted, thats great. But still I'm in need for help about scsi...
Any ideas?
Thanks again,

You could try to send a pm to the guy that got everything working. And you can search the forum for threads about scsi and aic7xxx.
Oh, and there's always the irc channels. Maybe somebody there can help you. _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. Help answer the unanswered

I got it!
I booted up the default Gentoo kernel image, then :
modprobe ips
I got in by pure luck, I don't know what ips is and modinfo doesn't tell anything.
My four drives are now available.
I also had to manually probe the network interface which is pcnet32.
I am ready to install!
Thanks for you help again!
