|
|
Felt confident enough to do full install from stage1, took my time & did it over 3 days, went along without any problems, rebooted into 2.6.5-gentoo-r1 - very fast load. Entered my login & passwd, su -, all as it should, did emerge sync and it gave me: Segmentation Fault.
My flags, use & fstab are the same as when I had a working 2.4.22-gentoo -r7
read all I could find in the forums, but didn't find anything to point at, any suggestions? |

Could you just quote the error output ?
Maybe it is related to the r1. it is not a stable version yet.... |

There is no error output, when I emerge sync or any emerge it reads Segmentation Fault
That is all it shows, & I thought r1 was stable |

What cflags did you use?
Have you done a memory test with memtest86?
Are you overclocking your system? _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. Help answer the unanswered

CFLAGS are:CFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer"
I cannot emerge memtest86 & I do not overclock
I'm thinking I will reinstall from stage1 again using 2004 |

cflags should be ok if you really do have an athlon-xp, thunderbirds are not athlon-xp. You could try without the -pipe. But if you used those settings from the start your compiler chain could be borked in which case you need to start from bootstrap again.
Memtest86 is a boot option of the livecd, so you won't have to emerge it. _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. Help answer the unanswered
