Kernel 2.5.x and Touchpad/eraser head mice

Hi everyone. I've been playing around with some development kernels (2.5.33 and more recently 2.5.40) and I was wondering if anyone was able to use both a touchpad and an eraser head mouse pointer simultaneously. It works perfectly fine for 2.4.18+ kernels, but I haven't gotten it to work on any dev kernels. For some reason the eraser head never wants to work. I've tried running cat on every mouse device I can find, but they always only detect the touchpad. Has anyone tried this and found a way around it? Is there a kernel forum specifically (maybe not even related just to gentoo) where I can post this if no one here knows? Thanks in advance =)
