You have set the wrong processor type in your CFLAGS variable (in /etc/make.conf).
Make sure you do not set the processor type higher than what you really have! _________________ >>> emerge (3 of 7) mcse/70-293 to /

I think you should recompile sys-libs/glibc. Also check your fs for errors. _________________ #gentoo.pl Team - sekretarz |

I got following exit-status during bootstrapping:
"
...
checking for C compiler default output... configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables
!!! ERROR: sys-devel/gettext-0.11.5 failed.
!!! Function econf, Line 365, Exitcode 77
!!! econf failed
"
here my make.conf:
"
CFLAGS="-march=athlon64 -pipe -02"
CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"
MAKEOPTS="-j2"
GENTOO_MIRRORS="..." # "..." means a valid link
USE="..." # "..." to lot to type here
"
Sorry, if this question has been asked before. Just post a link then.
Thank you for fast help! |

no. I´m sorry. I can´t neither execute a browser nor any other program on this status. I´m writing here from another PC and typing everything by hand.
I tried now stage3, but here comes the same error during kernel compiling.
"emerge glibc" seemed to work first, but occured later another error:
...
checking for suffix of object files... configure: error: cannot compute suffix of object files: cannot compile
See 'config.log' for more ´details.
!!! ERROR: sys-libs/glibc-2.3.2-r9 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 495, Exitcode 1
!!! (no error message) |

I don´t really think, there´s anything wrong with the cd. And I´m not that kind of freak that overclocks an amd64!
Finally I don´t want to work also through the knoppix-installing-handbook. So, are there any other suggestions? THX |

knoppix-installing-howto:
a) burn cd
b) insert it & boot it
d) viola
hint: it's a liveCD |
