Is there any simple method of finding out to what package a paritcular utility belongs? I need the dig utility, and don't have it installed. I also need tree, but that's for a different reason.
I'm sure that someone just _knows_ where these utilities are, but I'd like to be able to find them for myself in the future. You know, give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day...teach a man to fish and he'll always have fish...or something like that.

I saw something about that on the forum about 6 months ago. I never use it since I do know what packages contain the tools I want.
Otherwise I end up just using
-s = search but there's another that will actually search the description I just can't remember what it was....that was what was on the forum I meantioned.
the above line returns a series of things one of them is this:
Code: | * net-dns/bind-tools
Latest version available: 9.2.2
Latest version installed: 9.2.2
Size of downloaded files: 4,951 kB
Homepage: http://www.isc.org/products/BIND/bind9-beta.html
Description: bind tools: dig, nslookup, and host
