I upgraded to baselayout-1.8.12 a couple of days ago and since then my pcmcia network card isn't working as it should (and did before i took the upgrade). The problem is when I halt the system (or stop the service by the way): I get a message saying
unregistered_netdevice waiting for eth0 to become free. Usage count = 2
The only way to stop it is turning off the computer... I'm using a 2.4 kernel and pcmcia-cs drivers, any idea?

If you had to customize any of the files in /etc/pcmcia or /etc/conf.d check to make sure they are still configured correctly. I've had problems when my wireless lan pcmcia settings got wiped out by not checking etc-update close enough. Thinking of that, you may need to do an etc-update and get the latest updates on some config files.

Thanks for your reply, but I think this is not the problem. I've been careful with etc-update and I don't remember editing any file related to pcmcia. From what I've gathered somewhere this is a message from the kernel himself, this is the reason why it can't be stopped for example with ctrl-C. Maybe there is something wrong in the new init srcipts :?:
