When I try to emerge a newer version of either postfix or courier I get the following...

All i'm using courier for is a pop3 and imap server, why could it possibly block postfix for emerging?
Also, anyone know what I need to do in order to get them to emerge? |

Courier == Courier-MTA + Courier-maildrop + Courier-IMAP + Courier-authdaemon (probably  )
You're trying to install the postfix virtual package, which probably includes pop/imap support - since it's a virtual mail package.
Don't emerge the virtual postfix package - emerge the exact version you want, or see what's in the ebuild directory.
Better yet - delete both from your world file, and insert only the relevant parts of each - Postfix's MTA and Courier-IMAP.

postfix is only an mta, afaik. but he's right in that if you only want courier's pop3 and imap daemons, unmerge courier and merge courier-imap.

Thanks, problem solved.
Unmerged courier and emerged courier-imap, got the pop3 and imap daemons up and working.
Postfix has emerged fine. |
