Hi
I have a problem with my IDE-Raid ...
I can't get it to work ... I have an Asus K7N8X-E with SiI3112A SATA-Raid Controller ..
There is already an Raid-Set with 2 160GB HDs ... There are 2 partitions on it ...
I don't know how i get them to work ....
The kernel hardware support says : No raid array found
I had them working earlyer on another linux installation ...
Please help me ...

Here a snipet from the dmesg :

The Silicon Image controller you're using is not a hardware RAID device; it's an ordinary non-RAID controller with a few minimal RAID "hooks" to help out software RAID drivers. The device ships with drivers for Windows, but it's not a standard part of Linux. You need to add a special driver to get this to work. (Note that I've never used it, and I don't know if there are any Gentoo-specific shortcuts or caveats.) By all accounts, though, it's better to use Linux's own software RAID solutions with such devices, if possible. If you're trying to dual-boot and use RAID in both OSs, that may not be possible, though. If you just prepared the disk in another OS but want to use Linux exclusively, I recommend you just ditch the setup you've done, repartition the disks in Linux, and use Linux's software RAID.
