i just installed gentoo, and eth0 isnt working. when i try to turn it on, it says the
"eth0: error fetching interface inforfmation: device not found"
in the config.d/net i have
eth0="dhcp"
does anyone know how to 'find the device'? _________________ VT |

You tried to modprobe your card driver?
What does /etc/var/log/messages say about it? _________________ signature sucks |

ok so i figured out that my network card uses the tulip driver thing.... after rebuilding the kernel with these it still wont work.
edit:
ok so i read in another thread
so i try that and it worked. so then I tried
and that works now....however i dont have any ip address, and i set my iface_eth0 to 'dhcp' and later to a static ip setting. anybody know what else to try? _________________ VT |
