Greetings,

I got a ASUS CUV266-D & 2 x P3 1G CPU.
Thinking that I can gain experience on SMP Gentoo...

But the problem is...
I went to the BIOS and check the setting...
and the temperature of the CPU2 is at least 3 degrees C
higher than CPU1, sometimes even 10 degrees.
and the Vcore of the CPU2 moves up and down from
1.68V to 1.73V, while both CPU is suppose to work at 1.75V

Then... what should I do?

1. return the motherboard to the supplier which it is still in warranty?
(but they claim what I saw is normal  )
2. Install Microsuck Windows 2000 and run 3dmark overnight...
(will the motherboard die?)
3. Install Gentoo and emerge *some* burn in test overnight?
4. Sell it all with warranty to other people
5. give it to you? 8O

Anybody have similar experience or suggestion?

Thanks for reading this post.

Did you get a _good_ power supply with that board?
The voltage variation is a bit worrying, but it might be the sign that
you're straining your power source, which is not good at all.

I've built many dual cpu systems where i work. On all the intel systems that has happend it may seem odd to you but it's completely normal. What causes it is actually the chipset on the motherboard.

mseigneurin,

I tried with Seventeam 300W and 400W PowerSupply and
get the same result.

krobar,

The chipset of the motherboard?
will Intel chipset act like that?
or particularly VIA work like that?
