Hi,
I got a few problems setting up "playback of video files with mplayer in
native console".
I compiled framebuffer etc. and it seems to be working, from the kernels side.
I have to use the VESA module since my trident adaptor doesn`t like "his" driver.
On bootup i pass 0x315 to the system which gives me a 800x600 resolution,
and (i hope) 24 bpp.
I emerged DirectFB and after that mplayer.
I can play movies directly in console using "mplayer -vo directfb ..."
But playback is very slow and the colours are all wrong.
So here are my main questions :
- what about the colours ? something with that rgba boot option ?
- what about performance ?
I messed around to use sdl with directfb in console, but without any results.
Can anyone really "explain" how this is supposed to work ?
- what about "fbset" and "directfb-config"
do I need fbset for more than just mode switching ? (i don't want to change from
0x315 , so I don't need that)
what should I do to directfb-config , to get it correctly working with mplayer ?
to be frank, I'm trying t set this up under a 500mhz toshiba laptop, so i suppose
it could be the overall system performance that gives me trouble.
But launching a different kernel (without framebuffer) I can play the exact same movie
very nicely under xorg with mplayer and sdl.
So if you can say something to my problems,
or there are other things I should know
please tell me.

sounds like its just a problem with the vesa driver and too slow to be able to keep up, bc i bet you use a fastest driver for x. _________________ Fighting for peace is like f****** for virginity |
