Hi. It's been a while since I last wrote here. -_- Been lurking way too much. =P Anyways, my question is, and I know what most of you will say but I must ask, is there a way to use my Window box to get my linux boxes to help do some work? (i.e., distributed processing) My Win box is slower than my four linux boxes, however, I'm not sure if I can get them to "communicate" the way I need them to.
Please note that I have tried to get distributed processing over my window cluster, but that failed miserably as since my comps don't like to communicate with each other O_o. Why?! Don't ask me. I haven't even attempted the linux aspect of it yet.
Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated.

That's way too open ended of a question. What are you really trying to do? Do you have an API for distributed computing in mind? Or a protocol for distributing the processing? _________________ Underwater photo gallery

You really need to tell us what sort of distributed processing you want to do...
Do you actually mean something like distcc?
If you actually want to do some more generic distributed processing, then...
<shameless plug>
why not check out PyLinda?

What I want it to help out with is when I am encoding a video or rendering images that take quite a bit of time. I don't run any scientific programs, so i wouldn't need it for that. Just video encoding/capturing and rendering. HOpefully that'll answer both questions. |
