hi i want to trie the new reiserfs 4 EXPERIMENTAL! But how can i change from the old resierfs to the new one without fformat the disk because i want the things that is oin the disk to stay there i dont want to erase it? Is this possible? I have learned that with linux everything works! I hop this will work too! _________________ Gentoo 2005.0

You need to make a filesystem on it.
And no, that does not take very long, especially with Reiser.

If we say i got a disk that is hda4 it is 160 gb and how too change filesystem from reiserfs to resierfs4? Without lose anything on it! _________________ Gentoo 2005.0

You can't. Creating the Reiser4 filesystem will destroy all the data that was on the partition. You need another partition to copy everything onto, then create your reiser4 filesystem, then copy the data back again. The actual formatting will take a few seconds (about 2 for my 40GB /home partition), but copying all your data back and forth could take some time. |
