Hi all. I'm a wancatan player (www.wannagame.com) and i've used to play it under Windows.
Now i'm converted all my system under gentoo linux and i've tried to lauch the game program (WanCatan) and the messenger (wannagame) using wine but with no results.
Someone of you have tried those programs and can help me?
In particular, when i launch the WanCatan game it give me this error:
| Code: | You need to merge the 'winedefault.reg' file into your
Wine registry by running: `regedit winedefault.reg'

but i don't know hot to do it: i don't find any winedefault.reg into system.
Also, when i lauch the messenger:
| Code: | | Unhandled exception (thread 0009), starting debugger.. |
with some debugging windows, that i cannot manage.
i've emerged the wine program with emerge -k wine and i've configured the config but i never used wine before so i don't know if i need to make another installation steps.
Can you all help me?

I can, but the wannagame network is very populate with good players, with a ranking system and the wancatan version is very addicted, well made and implement the City-and-Knights and Seafares of Catan versions (other than customized maps and editors).
I suggest you to try WanCatan and after help me to port it under wine/linux

Have you tried WINE with other applications?
I had to merge the registry for wine to work at all. |

Yes, i've tried. Actually Blitzin2 (chess program for icc, a lot better that xchess indeed) runs well with wine.
When i've emerged wine, i havent' merged any registry. Can you tell me what registry you have merged and in what manner?
(sorry for my english, it isn't my primary language and i have some difficults..) |

do:
it is an application to edit and almost automatically edit your wine config file.
more importantly it creates the default registry, it should solve your problem.
i find http://www.frankscorner.org/ very helpful for wine problems.  |
